Summit Theme: The Why and How of EMOTIONAL Reparations:

The Human Costs of Racism Against People of African Descent

This Summit will equip participants to bring a “multi-faceted” reparations approach into their local advocacy, activism, and policy making.

Panelists including physicians, mental health professionals, lawyers, and activists will deepen our collective understanding of the tremendous human toll exacted by the centuries-old global anti-Black narrative grounded in lies of White superiority and Black inferiority.

Summit participants and panelists will then work together to co-create new strategies for engaging not only national--but also local-- governments and institutions, including universities, schools, corporations, employers, and philanthropic organizations in the essential work of repairing the profound damage caused by the anti-Black narrative.

Summit Reception, September 22, 6:00 pm:

This after-Summit gathering will create a space for socializing and networking for future collaboration. CHN will also present the 2017 Community Healer Awards recognizing exceptional contributions to healing in communities across the African Diaspora.

Post-Summit Emotional Emancipation (EE) Circles Training, September 23 and 24, 9:00 am-5:00 pm both days:

This training is being offered in response to popular demand from participants in Summits 2015 and 2016. It will offer trained EE Circle facilitators from across the country and around the world the opportunity to come together for the first time and share their experiences with participants new to the EE Circles village. We will all be introduced to the exciting new and improved EE Circles training protocol informed by lessons learned from our nearly five years of EE Circles movement-buildin. Come learn, network, and collaborate with other local leaders working to build the global grassroots movement for emotional emancipation.
